John Kunkel
Owner – JK Home Loans | Director of Lending – Heritage Mortgage KC
With more than 25 years of experience in business, finance, real estate, and lending, John is licensed in Arkansas, Florida, Kansas, and Missouri. He is the owner of JK Home Loans, LLC, powered by Heritage Mortgage KC, and he serves as the Director of Lending. John brings a blend of both bank and mortgage broker experience, giving him a broad understanding of products, guidelines, and lending strategies that benefit clients across many situations. He is a graduate of the Barret School of Banking and a Certified Mortgage Advisor. He also holds a B.S. in Leadership and Management from Harding University. Before entering the mortgage industry, he held leadership roles at Walmart and PetSmart corporate offices, gaining valuable experience that supports his client-focused approach today.
John provides a smooth, straightforward, and stress-free mortgage experience for first-time buyers, second-home buyers, and investors. He focuses on making the lending process easy to understand and tailored to each client so they can move forward with confidence.
Clients appreciate his steady communication, dependable updates, and strong command of the mortgage landscape. His experience across multiple markets helps him support a wide range of borrowers, including entrepreneurs and business owners who use real estate to build long-term success.
John is active in giving back and supporting his communities, contributing time, leadership, and resources to help strengthen the regions he serves.
Outside of lending, John owns and operates a fifth-generation farm raising Angus cattle and other livestock. His work on the farm reflects a commitment to hard work, family values, and strong community roots.

Deborah Brasel
Broker/Owner
With more than 20 years of experience in mortgage lending, Deborah Brasel is the broker and owner of HMKCLLC and a forward-thinking leader with a clear focus on growth and excellence. Her background includes deep knowledge of lending operations, loan strategy, and client management, enabling her to guide clients through every stage of the financing process with confidence and clarity.
Deborah is known for her strong command of the mortgage landscape and her steady, solutions-driven approach. She has a reputation for finding answers where others cannot and for creating a lending experience that is smooth, efficient, and built on trust. Her leadership style reflects a commitment to clear communication, dependable support, and consistent follow-through, qualities that benefit both her clients and her team.
She continues to drive innovation and long-term growth at HMKCLLC, supporting borrowers, team members, and partners with the same level of care and professionalism that defines her career.
During her free time, Deb enjoys spending time with her family and cruising on Lake of the Ozarks, soaking up some sun.
Tara Brasel
Loan Officer Assistant / Mortgage Support Professional
Tara serves as both a Loan Officer Assistant and a Mortgage Support Professional, providing clients with clear, caring communication throughout the lending process. She manages the hands-on work that keeps a loan moving, including gathering and verifying documents, organizing financial information, preparing loan files, updating client records, and coordinating closely with loan officers, processors, and underwriters. Tara monitors each file from start to finish, helps resolve conditions, and ensures every requirement is met with accuracy and timeliness. Her goal is to reduce clients' stress and create a smooth, efficient path to closing.
Tara is known for her attention to detail, strong follow-through, and determination to solve problems quickly. Tara consistently supports her team by keeping files organized, anticipating needs, and maintaining steady communication with borrowers, agents, and partners.
Outside of work, Tara enjoys spending time with her family, relaxing on the water, and listening to music, living life to the fullest.
Steve Jarboe
Mortgage Loan Originator
Steve has been guiding clients through the Mortgage lending process for over 37 years. He provides service in both Missouri and Kansas. He will provide the proper loan program to your personal needs and wants. No loan is the same, but Steve has the expertise to adjust to current and any future market challenges for you.
Elisa Parker
Marketing Administrator/Assistant Loan Processor
Elisa serves as a Marketing Administrator and Assistant Loan Processor, bringing a blend of creativity, organization, and client focused support to her dual roles. As a Marketing Administrator, she develops social media content, coordinates campaigns, and helps strengthen brand awareness across digital platforms. In her role as an Assistant Loan Processor, she supports clients through the lending process by ensuring files are complete, accurate, and handled with care.
She holds a B.A. in Business and Project Management and an Associate’s degree in Marketing.
Outside of work, Elisa enjoys spending time with her family, hiking, attending plays, and riding horses.
Rhonda Anderson
Mortgage Loan Originator/Processor
Rhonda has worked in all aspects of the mortgage business. She has an exceptional track record of consistently achieving remarkable outcomes and approaches every loan scenario with a high level of professionalism and expertise. She is attentive to her clients’ needs and values building relationships to maintain long term client connections. She is dedicated to helping clients achieve their financial objectives.
Rhonda started her Banking and Mortgage career over 30 years ago and has gained knowledge and experience from Credit Unions, Banks, and Mortgage Companies. Since 2013, she has served in Executive Management as Vice President of Operations for three local Community Banks and helped grow those institutions with her Team in assets and training where Customer Service was a key attribute to their success. She brings more than 30 years of knowledge, experience, trust, professionalism, and many customer service awards that reflect her dedication to providing the best of the best in the financial industry.
She and her husband live in south central Kansas, where she works remotely. They enjoy hunting and riding their road bikes, she competes in road races, and they love riding their Harleys. She believes in a healthy life balance with Faith, Family, Fitness, and good living.
Eli Bakr
Mortgage Loan Originator/Processor
I have been doing tax preparations for several years and went on to expand myself into being full service to my clients and friends to help guide and provide them a savings on one of their largest investments in their lives being their mortgage….. I also have one daughter whom I adore and enjoy spending time with my family and friends when not working.
